Introduction
The IOM offers two types of Company Membership: • Group, which allows a limited number of named operations personnel within an organisation to become members of the Institute at a considerably reduced fee. • Corporate, which allows all the relevant personnel within an organisation to become part of the professional community represented by the Institute of Operations Management and to have access to the benefits of Institute membership. The reasons for organisations becoming Company Members are many and varied, including:
Individual membership may be either corporate (Fellow or Member grades) with full entitlement to use the designatory letters after their names and vote at general meetings and for elected members of Council, or non-corporate (Associate and Student grades) with no such entitlement. Types of Company Membership Scheme Group Membership The basic scheme is for up to 10 members, with an additional fee for each individual over 10. There is no upper limit to the number of company personnel who can be included as part of the Company (Group) Membership, although if an organisation has more than 30 nominees it would be advised to consider the Company (Corporate) Membership Scheme. Also there is no limit on the geographic spread of the nominated individuals - they can be all on one site or spread over many sites, even outside the UK. The company provides details of 10 named individuals, one of whom will be the primary contact for the scheme. All general correspondence and invoices concerning the scheme membership will be directed to this primary contact. A list of all those included in the Company (Group) Membership Scheme will be sent through with the annual renewal invoice and individual names can be changed or additions made at any time through the primary contact. Each nominee will receive their own copy of the Institute's journal, 'Operations Management', together with any other mail shots sent out by the IOM. These members will automatically be given the grade of Associate, but may apply for regrading to Member or Fellow if they wish. Additional members may be included at an additional charge per nominee. These members would also receive their own copy of "Operations Management" and would be given the grade of Associate, but could apply to be Members or Fellows. Corporate Membership The basic scheme is for up to 50 members, with a scale of charges for additional numbers. The company should provide details of at least 10 named individuals, one of whom will be the primary contact for the scheme. All general correspondence and invoices concerning the scheme membership will be directed to this primary contact.
Each named individual will receive their own copy of the Institute’s journal, 'Operations Management', together with any other mail shots sent out by the IOM. These members will automatically be given the grade of Associate, but may apply for regrading to Member or Fellow if they wish. Additional named individuals up to a total of 50 may be included at no additional charge. These members would also receive their own copy of 'Operations Management' and would be given the grade of Associate, but could apply to be Members or Fellows. Further named individuals above the first 50 may be added for an additional fee of £20.00/head. Access to all the benefits of membership - except for a personal copy of 'Operations Management' – plus some extra benefits, can also be made available to an agreed number of unnamed people within the organisation for an additional cost (see annual subscription fees below).
