About IOM Scotland

Regional Chair
Professor Neil Towers FIOM

Neil Towers is currently Chair of Supply Chain Management at Heriot Watt University. He has been a Fellow of the IOM for over fifteen years with extensive international operations management experience at Lucas Industries, GEC, Foden Trucks, and BTR aswell as being previously being self employed working for a small start up manufacturing business in Manchester.

Previously Past Chair of the IOM Qualifications & Awards Committee he is now External Moderator of IOM programmes delivered at Adam Smith College, Kirkcaldy. With five grown up children to keep him busy he is an enthusiastic rugby, motor sport and cricket supporter.

 



Vice Chair
Ken White FIOM 

23 years in manufacturing industry in mainly large companies – Singer Manufacturing, Austin Motor Company through various name changes to British Leyland, Rank Aldis, Cessna and Taylor Instruments. This was followed by 26 years in Further Education 9 of them as Head of Department, in Management, and for the past five years self employed working for organisations such as the Scottish Qualifications Authority, Edexcel, Skills for Logistics, Institute of Operations Management and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport focusing on Supply Chain Management.

I am a Fellow of the Institute and have served on the Qualifications and Awards Committee for more years than I care to remember. Currently Chief Examiner and Moderator.

I am still heavily involved in sport as Secretary of the Kirkcaldy Area Sports Council and WISE (The Schools Swimming Associations of Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England) and Chair of the Scottish Schools Swimming Association.

 


Branch Treasurer
Graeme McLaren MIOM

Graeme currently works for Oracle within their World Wide Operations function as a Global Returns Program Manager, with specific responsibilities spanning recycling across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. After a spell in the Military Graeme joined Sun Microsystems and has amassed over 15 years of Operations management experience spanning inventory and materials management, manufacturing management, supplier management and more recently global reverse logistics process development. Supporting his experience Graeme has an MBA from Edinburgh University Business School and is an active member of both IOM and CIPS.

While his young family soaks up the majority of his time outside of work, he enjoys the great outdoors and travel in general.


Industry Rep and Communications Officer
David Eadie MIOM

Fifteen years service in the Royal Navy as a Logistics / Materials Specialist, travelling round the world twice, visting the North Pole and as far south as the Falklands. Crewed a variety of ships throughout my career, making some life long friends.

After leaving the Navy in 1994 I joined Sun Microsystems, a large global computer hardware / software manufacturer. Held numerous positions within material management and manufacturing operations during my 14 years with the company. Achieved my IOM Diploma whilst at Sun in 2000, gained alot from the experience and it definitely promoted my career progression.

Currently employed at Raytheon Systems, a Ministry of Defence / Department of Defence contractor, working within manufacturing to drive lean practises and principals to achieve a world class manufacturing facility. Current focus includes empowering teams, moving from a directive management style to more a autonomous cell team structure.


Treasurer
David McGonigle MIOM

David currently works for BAE systems surface ships Ltd as Head of Supply Chain (D) and Head of Logistics. David's Supply chain career started when he joined Compaq Computers Ltd, from there he has amassed over 15 years of Procurement, Supply Chain and Operations management experience spanning inventory and materials management, supplier management and more recently Lean Six Sigma. Supporting his experience David has an MBA from Caledonia University and is an active member of both IOM and CIPS.

While his family soaks up the majority of his time outside of work, he also enjoys managing a local football team.
