Neil Towers is currently Chair of Supply Chain Management at Heriot Watt University. He has been a Fellow of the IOM for over fifteen years with extensive international operations management experience at Lucas Industries, GEC, Foden Trucks, and BTR aswell as being previously being self employed working for a small start up manufacturing business in Manchester. Previously Past Chair of the IOM Qualifications & Awards Committee he is now External Moderator of IOM programmes delivered at Adam Smith College, Kirkcaldy. With five grown up children to keep him busy he is an enthusiastic rugby, motor sport and cricket supporter.
23 years in manufacturing industry in mainly large companies – Singer Manufacturing, Austin Motor Company through various name changes to British Leyland, Rank Aldis, Cessna and Taylor Instruments. This was followed by 26 years in Further Education 9 of them as Head of Department, in Management, and for the past five years self employed working for organisations such as the Scottish Qualifications Authority, Edexcel, Skills for Logistics, Institute of Operations Management and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport focusing on Supply Chain Management. I am a Fellow of the Institute and have served on the Qualifications and Awards Committee for more years than I care to remember. Currently Chief Examiner and Moderator. I am still heavily involved in sport as Secretary of the Kirkcaldy Area Sports Council and WISE (The Schools Swimming Associations of Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England) and Chair of the Scottish Schools Swimming Association.
