Does anyone have experience using electronic Kanban or pull systems? I'm looking at a simple mechanism to trigger replenishment over distance rather than sophisticated software solutions

There are many comparison websites available to compare all kinds of insurance. They save time and energy, preventing you from having to physically go different insurance companies. They actually act as hubs for individuals to compare different insurance quotes, based on the information they input into the website. The cheapest quote may not necessarily be the best for you, as it may exclude coverage of certain things.

Can anybody point me to where I can find the full formula for working out min max stock levels and its definitions?

I have been using a re-order point algorithm for many years for my purchase to stock building materials wholesale business and have found it to be astonishingly accurate.

I would be happy to give you some examples. I would just need the following:

1) SKU description and location.

2) Service level requirement

3) ETA of any incoming containers.

4) Number of units in stock.

5) All lead time data in months (show the full spread of lead times)

6) Your sales forecast (units per month) over the next lead time period.

7) Landed cost per unit at the warehouse.

8) Monthly storage cost per unit at the warehouse.

9) Cost per order event.

Cheers,

Peter Phillips.

Hello Peter,

Thanks to give us the formula or an calculation example for our better understanding....what you have listed above sounds applicable in our side..

Thanks a lot..

Lanyards are pieces of rope, wire, or cloth specifically designed to attach to objects. They are typically used to secure small items such as a work badge, key, identification card, eyeglasses, whistle, cell phone, bottle opener, knife, or compass. A lanyard can be worn around the neck, arm, waist or wrist.

The typical use of a lanyard is to wear it looped around the neck to secure and display an object that is frequently needed. Securing the object with a neck lanyard keeps it readily available for use, provides easy access to the object, and keeps the hands free. In a business environment, many employees choose to wear lanyards around the neck to display an identification badge or secure keys. A lanyard may also be attached to a belt loop to allow the secured object to be tucked into a pocket.

There are as many lanyard styles available and there are many uses for them. People who like to differentiate themselves from the "norm" can have a lanyard custom printed or personalized. A lanyard can be as simple and inexpensive as a 3/8" shoelace style cord or as extravagant as a wire strung with expensive crystals and gemstones.

The lanyard business is booming, as many large businesses continue to purchase lanyards by the thousands for their employees. Even when custom printed with company names, logos, symbols, or slogans, lanyards are relatively inexpensive. They serve as an effective and convenient source of advertising when worn at trade shows or given away for promotional purposes.

Hi there,

There is a very good case made for non-significant part numbering here but can you offer any advice if you are taking over an existing part numbering system that already has a significant part numbering system?

We have a 3 digit prefix for the type of product and then a series of numbers and letters for the details of the product. I would be a nightmare to change these already existing parts!

Hai All,

I'm also a new memeber just now joined in the community. The suggestions you quoted for the business people and the employers are so good. I don't have any interest at all in the field of business. But, in regardance of your tips those are very helpful for those who are in this field and those are getting starting. Nice tips, keep forwarding such tips. wish to see soon.

Asbestos is a natural substance that was widely used for a number of purposes due to its hard wearing, heat resistant nature. It has been used widely for insulation. The three main types of asbestos are:

1. Crocidolite (Blue) - banned since 1985
2. Amosite (Brown) banned since 1985
3. Chrysotile (white) almost completely banned since 1999 with a few exceptions.

Alpha numeric numbers are those numbers that can be dialled by using the alphabets on the keypad rather than the number itself. You may have an 0800 number or 0845 Numbers that needs to be advertised to promote your services. You may either publish just a string of numbers or opt for the alpha numeric representation of it which makes it very easy for the customers to remember.

This can be illustrated by an example. Suppose you are a florist. Would it not be quite advantageous to have a number such as 0800-FLOWERS rather than just some random numerals? An alpha numeric number will stick to the mind of the customer better and he or she is more likely to dial 0800-FLOWERS rather than dial the competition.

Alpha numeric numbers are quite popular in the US. If you have watched TV shows that invite viewers to call in and vote for the contestants or even a telephone shopping line, they are likely to have an alpha numeric telephone number that the customers can dial in.

Alpha numeric numbers are a great way to make a statement, to stand out from competition and to make the customers remember your number.

dear John,

WIll you please tell us what reorder point formula you are using in your operations to control stock replenishment process?

thanks,
jon

quote=John Hardwick, Tuesday, 15 Jul 2008 20:47]You are right, measuring forecast accuracy should depend on what you are using the forecast for.

In our business (pharmaceuticals) we measure the actual demand vs the forecast at the time we had to use it. So our commercial colleagues send us a forecast 8 weeks out to allow us to buy components and raw materials. So when we get the final order 2 weeks out, we compare it to the forecast at 8 weeks and play the results back to them. For info we report both accuracy and bias, as we find different markets tend to have different bias. (Some over forecast, while other under forecast)

We are increasingly trying to be less and less reliant on forecasts, using them more to adjust inventory policy than to do the ordering (certainly for runners and repeaters). For our 'strangers' our purchase requirements tend to be well below MOQ for our suppliers anyway, so we work a re-order point process.

dear mate,

Why bother implementing forecasting calculation in your spreadsheets? Actually, many factors residing in demand of products have to be taken into accout, trends and seasonality. If you are interested, I recommend a demand forecasting software to you, ForecastX Wizard, which is intelligently chooses the best-fit forecasting model to do the best forecast. You can google it. It can be seamlessly working with Excel.

Jon
