Qualifications Development

This new Level 3 qualification is being developed with mandatory units which will be used by both IOM and CILT candidates, with optional units providing the technical aspect of each qualification. This qualification will be launched in September 2010 and accredited in the QCF. As such this will be a unit based qualification – meaning that units can be studied independently, with credits awarded per unit, which can be accumulated within the framework.

At Level 3, the achievement must reflect the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to complete tasks and address problems that, while well defined, have a measure of complexity. It should include taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and procedures as well as exercising autonomy and judgement within limited parameters. It should also reflect awareness of different perspectives or approaches within an area of study or work.

At present, these standard are in draft form, and as an Institute we are requesting that experts in the fields of logistics, transport and operations management review them with a critical eye and provide feedback on the contents, style, complexity and relevancy of each unit.
