Firms ''facing rise in seasonal demand''The festive period means that many UK businesses must meet additional orders and fulfill them in time for Christmas, a report warns.

According to Bibby Financial Services, importers in particular may be facing pressure to meet the seasonal rush, something demand planning could assist with.

Operations management professionals might like to note that as companies gear up for Christmas, volumes of goods coming into the UK has risen over the past year indicating consumer confidence is growing.

Cash flow is central to ensuring importers are able to take advantage of new opportunities - such as purchasing new stock when orders come in - and cover seasonal expenses such as bonuses.

Meanwhile, demand planning could also assist with preparations for "manic Monday", which falls on November 29th this year and is expected to generate sales in the UK of £22 million, a 29 per cent rise on the same day in 2009.ADNFCR-3058-ID-800243952-ADNFCR
