Scottish services firms encouraged to employ continuous improvementCompanies operating in the Scottish services sector are being urged to enhance customer experiences ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in addition to the Ryder Cup and other celebrations.

With the country set to host the international event, People 1st has launched a new campaign aimed at improving operations management within hospitality companies to ensure visitors attending the event enjoy it and have a warm welcome to Scotland.

According to the hospitality, passenger travel and tourism sector skills council, a poll of firms in the country found 64 per cent would like to boost their customer handling skills.

People 1st has won the backing of a number of Scottish companies and industry organisations and its head of Scotland David Allen said: "We need to ensure the visitor experience of Scotland is a very positive one and this will depend on how well we welcome and look after our guests."

Last month, a study by YouGov was published by People 1st showing that 73 per cent of respondents believe customer service in Britain needs to be improved ahead of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.ADNFCR-3058-ID-800637505-ADNFCR
