Welsh Assembly invests in public sector operations managementThe Welsh Assembly government has unveiled plans to make public services "more effective and efficient" through a series of projects intended to deliver cost savings.

Under the second phase of Invest-to-Save schemes, the country will support a series of operations management initiatives designed to deliver continuous improvement in a number of authorities.

Announced by minister for business and budget Jane Hutt, the second trache of funding will go to successful public service bodies, including local authorities, the National Botanical Garden for Wales and the University Wales Institute, Cardiff.

"Investments will support in transforming the way [organisations] work and respond to the challenge of delivering quality services and outcomes for citizens during a period of tightening budgets," Ms Hutt declared.

A total of eight projects have been selected and include plans to streamline business processes, boost ICT usage and increase collaboration with other agencies.

UK communities secretary John Denham recently called for greater accountability with regards to public sector expenditure by quangos, councils and other bodies in order to enhance efficiencies.ADNFCR-3058-ID-19547302-ADNFCR
