Manufacturing ''will lead UK recovery in 2011'' The manufacturing industry will lead balanced economic growth in the UK during 2011, it is claimed.

In a forecast for the year, EEF, the manufacturers' organisation, predicted the sector will outperform others as it is boosted by strong orders from overseas.

Growing activity in emerging markets is expected to help offset the impact of government spending cuts, according to the report, with investment and net trade expanding in the country.

Entitled Economic Prospects 2011, the study also highlights challenges to those involved in manufacturing management over the coming 12 months, including access to finance, high inflation levels, the crisis in the eurozone and rising commodity prices.

EEF chief economist Lee Hopley stated: "Manufacturing now looks set to be at the heart of the rebalanced growth the economy needs with sectors most exposed to international markets likely to post the highest growth."

Last month the body stated in its response to the Government released a package of energy market reforms that they will support low carbon development, but will also push up costs for producers.ADNFCR-3058-ID-800331668-ADNFCR
