Call for action on green manufacturingManufacturers of green technology in the UK should be given greater government support, it has been claimed.

This is the view of Ultra Green founder and group executive chairman Tony Blakely, who has suggested more needs to be done to ensure that production of devices linked to sustainable energy remains in Britain.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion by industry specialists and politicians, he warned power shortages could take place in the UK unless green manufacturing is promoted more stridently.

The expert explained that there was a real risk of power scarcity in the future, but insisted that "we have a unique and high value product and there is a massive market in Europe, a huge manufacturing opportunity for Britain".

Those involved in improving manufacturing processes and demand planning could be interested in Mr Blakely''s forecast that further investment in wind tower production could generate up to 100,00 new jobs in the UK.

Hosted by Ultra Green, the Green Collar Economy Forum examined ways in which growing demand for renewable energy could be used to boost the manufacturing industry.ADNFCR-3058-ID-19742571-ADNFCR
